Can you color modeling chocolate
They usually carry different colored candy disks. Or use the Wilton melts. Regular Wilton colors won't work. Most people prefer the Americolors now and they have regular and candy colors. Look up candy clay and there are several sites with the recipe.
Gel colors by: Meris I recently used Americolor gel color to make modeling chocolate and it came out great-you want to use gel color, not liquid color, otherwise the consistency will change. Just make sure you mix the color well, otherwise it will streak. Coloring chocolate by: Deanna I usually make the modeling chocolate myself and I will use the red candy melts if I need a lot of it. I have used the Wilton gel colors to tint small amounts of modeling chocolate.

You are right, I don't know why I would add gel color. I have candy color. Thanks for the tip on adding fondant and for all your help to both of you!
I color my modeling chocolate with regular food coloring after it's made and never have any problems I have candy color too but not a huge variety. I don't refrigerate it either, I've never seen a recipe that says to do so I do as Jason-Lisa.
Never a problem. I color each log of modeling chocolate with americolor gel. Then i have whatever color i need for what i am making. Liquid food colors work fine. Modeling chocolate cannot seize once it's set. Melt candy in microwave, add corn syrup and stir. It's very important that you wait several hours, preferably overnight, before you try to use it.
I noticed above, someone said modeling chocolate is the Wilton candy melts? The stuff that they use as they do fondant? So it tastes better and is easier or harder to work with than fondant. I'm sure others have different variations; I've seen at least 6. Wilton also has one that my friend uses all the time. It is made with candy ,melts and I find that it is much easier to work with then fondant or gumpaste.
