How long germinating cannabis seeds
Was my first time growing cannabis. They germinated and sprouted within 2 days. I used a seedling mat, a domed seedling cup and cold light. That was the easy part for me, the rest has been more challenging! Good luck! Hi Ori! Spraying the soil with water after planting the germinated seed is the best way to keep the right levels of humidity.
If the soil is dry, the seed also may die. The soil must be kept humid but also avoid overwatering. I hope it helps! I germinated two seeds and planted them in small planters the half pint size that seedlings come in from the nursery. Keep in mind the distance between the plant and the grow lights, which depends on their intensity and temperature. Filling the pots with soil mix to cover the elongated and weak stem, leaving out only 3 cm of stem and leaves may help to keep the plant up.
Eventually, the stem will grow stronger and roots will expand. Happy growing! Thanks for tops. Have 2 small plants growing. Been years since I grew any. Have killed a few seeds and plants recently. Too much water. Hi Daniel! This is a very common mistake! Plants can absorb water with their leaves too, so spraying them with water now and then helps to avoid overwatering in the seedling stage.

They are growing daily, but every day the new set of leaves at the bottom that reach decent size will turn pale yellow, then light brown and fall off.
The next day this starts all over again with the next set of leaves from the bottom. Any ideas of what I should do? The other plant has 3 sets of leaves and was seeded a month after the 1st one….. Any help would be greatly appreciated! As Grow with Jane app user, you also access our growing community where you can share photos, ask questions and more.

Peat pots have no nutritional value to provide the rapidly growing plant. I plant in the small jiffy pod and once the seedling has grown for a week or so I place the pod directly in the soil in a small pot with ocean forest soil and no fertilizer as the ocean forest has all the natural nutrients your plant needs for a few weeks and it wont burn it.
If you have determined females and plan on moving plants to a dedicated location, do it now before there is any chance of contamination or pollination. Since you are sexing, I must assume you bought regilar seeds from somewhere. Perhaps feminized seeds would suit you better, if you do not plan to breed seeds.

You are going to waste a lot of soil because the roots will go to the bottom and all the upper soil will be unused. Any professional nursery or potting mix with peat, perlite, vermiculite, fungi, and dolomitic lime will do. I am planning on germination in peat containers and then going to 30 gallon grow bags. Any suggestions on soil ix for the bag?
Less is always better. Then after a good watering, after its soaked in completly. Pick it up again. After a while you will get use to knowing when it needs to be watered from picking it up, and just sticking a finger into the dirt.
If you stick you finger in the soil a couple inches and it feels like wet beach sand, its way too wet. Thanks as always for your excellent guides, Rob! My temperature has been pretty steady around Celsius.

Soak in water 24 hours, into the soil outdoors. Mist multiple times daily until healthy. GL and WW Sprouts appear in 2 to 5 days. Problem solved. I put enough Mir. Grow pot. I guess that may be why plant growing more out instead of growing up? I tried the small peat pods in the small plastic greenhouse.
Seems to be growing more out than up…time to move to 5 gal. My point is I prefer the rock wool cubes, and be careful with the small peat pods. Just like to say that I keep things simple. I bought 10 white willow seeds. Put them in between 2 wet paper towels, put on a baggie, and put them on top of my hot water heater. I read from you Bible, great stuff!! I have grown a few plants over the past few years. Some seeds will be duds.
Others will be slow and take longer to sprout. But some will pop quickly and grow rapidly. This is the beauty of seeds—often, you can tell which plants or genetics will thrive right from the get-go. This will help you determine which plants you want to take cuttings from for clones or for breeding if you want to create a seed bank of your own.
If females are pollinated, it will give you buds filled with seeds, making your weed harsh and unpleasant. Cultivating males is important for breeders trying to cross new strains and genetics, but most people growing for buds will want to remove the males.
As mentioned above, you can skip the processing of sexing weed plants by growing with feminized seeds or clones. Cannabis plant sex organs appear on nodes, the points where branches grow off from the main stalk. Males will have round balls—these will develop into pollen sacs, which will release pollen into the air when mature. Females will have a round structure with long hairs—these hairs will develop into pistils, which will catch pollen in the air.
Pre-flowers can initially be extremely small and hard to identify with the naked eye, but you can use a magnifying glass to get a better look. Although much less common than it once was, it still happens. Seeds found in finished cannabis buds can develop for a number of reasons. For example, a male plant may have accidentally pollinated a flowering female during the growing process.
Seeds can also form in plants with genetic disorders or instability, like hermaphrodites—plants that develop both male and female reproductive parts.
Generally, stress and genetic disorders are viewed as bad, so temper expectations with any plant you start from a bagseed. But sometimes you get lucky and find a mature seed in some really nice herb. While not ideal, it could be the origins of the next great weed strain. Growing marijuana takes a certain level of commitment: time, energy, and financial resources, so be sure you can commit to the whole process.
For a seed to be viable, it must be mature enough to have a completely formed genetic blueprint, and it must be strong enough to germinate and pop through its hard casing and sprout its crucial taproot. There are a few indicators that will give you a sense of whether the seed is worth germinating. But often these are extremely weak, take long to develop, and express other unfavorable characteristics.
Growers usually discard weak plants to free up space. You might also find a mature seed that has been physically damaged through poor handling, like rough trimming. Remember, once a seed germinates, the real work begins. Sexing, selecting, vegetative growth, flowering, and the eventual harvest all lie ahead. Cannabis seeds can be found on numerous online seed banks, but note that it is illegal to bring seeds into the US and Customs will seize any cannabis seeds that they find in packages or on a person.
