You may remember seeing the Liverpudlian athlete running across the US dressed as Forrest Gump in , where he covered more than 15, miles on foot while recreating the run Gump makes in the film. To do that, he crossed the country five times, visiting 43 US states over two years.

But does Rob believe this extraordinary feat makes him personally superhuman? I came out of it a better person. The podcast sees Rob questioning the true definition of 'superhuman'. Rob got into running at a young age, after taking part in cross country at school. I took about 15 minutes off my marathon PB, so I was under 2h 30m at this point. When he's not running, Rob practices as an emergency vet. I thought about running across Australia, and even bought a stroller to put my kit in, but I never got round to doing it.

The Gump Run. Rob took his research for the run extremely seriously. Rob got in character before his run by having a Forrest Gump-style haircut. He also found out the exact day Forrest started his run. People say I fit in [among them]. But you endured a lot. How far did you run each day? I was averaging 59km a day. Crossing Wyoming, there was nothing for 64km at a time. Coldest was Alabama with 96kph winds. When I ran through Death Valley — [at times] the hottest place on Earth — it snowed.

There were huge emotional spikes. I got chased by a dude who I called out for kicking his dog. When he ran back to his house, I thought he was getting a gun. Follow Tim Don's resurgence from a career-threatening … Going from a broken neck to racing in just six ….

Yes, every single morning, but it was never entertained for long. That never happened. As well as physical and financial challenges, he faced a couple of hair-raising moments. Pope also ran late at night, in the dark, sometimes in risky locations. I was fully in traffic and I thought I was going to die then. On 29 April the run was over.
